Working Waterfront
Generations of Portlanders have fought nobly to preserve the working waterfront in the City. I am eager to pick up that standard and make it a cause for future generations. It's important for both our economy and our identity. We need to make sure the State Pier remains fit for purpose and that local fishermen and lobstermen maintain access. The waterfront sustains many good paying, unionized jobs - and City government must do all it can to make sure those jobs and industries thrive.
Portland is developing at a rapid speed, but in all of our decisions we must also retain our essential character - and for Portland that should always include a prosperous, working waterfront.
